‎Breaking News: Six (6) Adamawa Lawmakers Defect to APC After Governor’s Switch

‎Feb. 24, 2026 – Six law makers from various local government of the Adamawa State House of Assembly have officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), just days after Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri announced his own move to the ruling party.

‎The lawmakers include:
‎Deputy Speaker Hon. Muhammed Buba Jidjiwa (Jada/Mbulo)
‎Hon. Kefas Kalvin (Toungo)
‎Hon. Bulus Geoffrey (Leko/Koma)
‎Hon. Haruna Jilantikiri (Madagali)
‎Hon. Kefas Emmanuel (Song)
‎Hon. Ahmed Jingi Belel (Maiha)

‎The APC state chairman welcomed the new members, promising inclusive governance and “a united front for development.” Meanwhile, PDP leaders have condemned the defections as “political opportunism” and vowed to rebuild their base.

‎Political analysts say the mass switch reflects a trend of opposition figures joining the APC, raising concerns about Nigeria’s multiparty landscape. “When elected officials cross over it can tilt the balance of power and challenge democratic competition,” noted a local commentator.

According to Facebook user yesterday night hippopotamus attack herders killing five cows and injured the herder.  Around 1:30 Am this took place leaving 5 cow livesless at point of drinking from the river.
